Occupational Health and Safety

The Law on Occupational Health and Safety (Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia, No. 101/2005, 91/2015, and 113/2017) regulates the implementation and improvement of occupational health and safety for individuals involved in work processes, as well as for individuals who are present in the work environment, in order to prevent work-related injuries, occupational diseases, and work-related health conditions. The law regulates the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of employers and employees, the competencies, and measures that ensure occupational health and safety through collective agreements, general acts of the employer, or employment contracts.

Occupational health and safety means ensuring working conditions that, to the greatest extent possible, reduce work-related injuries, occupational diseases, and work-related health conditions, while primarily creating the conditions for the full physical, mental, and social well-being of employees.

The Risk Assessment Act is a document that contains a description of the work process, with an assessment of the risks of injuries and/or health damage in the workplace and work environment, as well as measures to eliminate or reduce these risks in order to improve occupational health and safety. Risk assessment is a systematic recording and evaluation of all factors in the work process that may cause work-related injuries, illnesses, or health damage, and the identification of possibilities or methods for preventing, eliminating, or reducing those risks.
