Fire protection

Fire protection is regulated by the Fire Protection Act (“Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia”, No. 111/2009, 20/2015, 87/2018).

The fire protection system includes a set of measures and actions for planning, financing, organizing, implementing, and controlling fire protection measures and actions, aimed at preventing the outbreak and spread of fires, detecting and extinguishing fires, rescuing people and property, protecting the environment, identifying and eliminating the causes of fires, as well as providing assistance in eliminating the consequences caused by fires.

Entities involved in fire protection include government authorities, authorities of autonomous provinces, local self-government units, legal entities, and individuals.

Fire protection is achieved through:

  1. Organizing and preparing fire protection entities to implement fire protection measures;
  2. Ensuring conditions for the implementation of fire protection measures;
  3. Taking measures and actions to protect and rescue people, material goods, and the environment in the event of a fire;
  4. Supervising the implementation of fire protection measures.
